Curiosa is the ceramic practice of Annette Lin, an Australian artist of Chinese ethnicity currently based in el barrio bravo in Mexico City.
An arts, design and political movement journalist by training, she has always been drawn to people and culture and the ways those are reflected across different scales in the physical environment.
Treating clay as another output for observation and storytelling, she uses wild, non-commercial and recycled clay to create ritual pieces that reflect our relationship with our urban, natural and cultural environments, both as individuals and as a whole.
Since 2024, she has studied ceramics with the collective Diablitxs del Fuego at FARO Aragon, a community arts centre on the outskirts of Mexico City. The group’s practice is centred on experimentation, collaboration and collective learning.
Each piece is produced thanks to either clay, glaze or knowledge shared by the collective, and fired thanks to the expertise and skill of Granada Cerámica.
